Ingredients:
- Curd - 2 cups
- Onions - 1 medium sized (1/2 cup chopped)
- Tomatoes - 2 large sized (1&1/2 cup finely chopped or pureed)
- Chilli powder(optional) - 1/2tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4tsp
- Salt - as per taste
For tempering (Popu):
- Oil - 2tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/4tsp
- Urad dal - 1/2tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4tsp
- Red chillies - 3 no's
- Green chillies - 3 no's
- Jeera - 1/4tsp
- Ginger - 1 inch piece finely chopped
- Hing - a pinch
Method:
- Beat the curd till smooth, can use some water if required. Add some salt and 1/4tsp of turmeric to it and mix well.
- Heat oil in a sauce pan/kadai on medium flame, add all tempering(popu) ingredients one by one and saute them for a minute or till the dals turn golden brown. Once dal changes it's colour slightly, add onions to it and saute till onions become transparent.
- Then add chopped tomatoes, 1/4tsp turmeric, salt, chilli powder(ignore if your added chillies are spicy enough) and saute them. once tomatoes gets soft , turn off the stove and let the mixture cool.
- Add this cooled tomato mixture to the beaten curd. Garnish with finally chopped coriander and serve hot with rice.
Note:
- Use fresh curd and ripe tomatoes .
- Can skip onions.
