Duct Tape Water Bottle Holder

Hello Everyone

We entered in February, So get ready to welcome warmer weather and also to enjoy more outings......... Hooray......
Sometimes while going out for a walk or  taking kids to the park or something like that, you may not need to carry your entire handbag but a small water bottle is compulsory for everyone because drinking more water is one of the safest and healthiest ways to detox the body.

So today, I'm sharing a tutorial of making Water Bottle holder with cross-body strap made out of Duct tape which is very light weight to carry even by kids. I like the crafts made out of duct tape as it requires no sewing, easy to make (ignore if tape is sometimes sticking to fingers) and comes in different patterns.

Materials Required:

  1. Duct tape roll (plain/pattern of your choice)
  2. Scissors
  3. Knife (X-acto knife works better)
  4. Water bottle
  5. Polythene cover (optional)

Procedure:

  • Cut a piece of polythene cover to the size of your bottle(here I'm using a 500 ml disposable water bottle). Hold the polythene sheet against the bottle and roll it around. The sheet should be slightly more than the actual required measurement so that, later we can seal the sheet at the bottom. You can skip this step if you are directly using the duct tape sheet made out of strips as in the next step.

  • Start unrolling the duct tape and place it's sticky side down on the polythene sheet(if you are not using polythene sheet then you can place the duct tape directly on some base from which you can easily remove the tape strips).once you keep your first strip on the sheet, gently press and smooth the tape with your fingers to get rid of any air bubbles. Then take another strip of same length as previous one and slightly overlap it over the first one and again press and smooth the tape gently to remove the air bubbles.

  • Continue overlapping the duct tape strips until you reach the end of the polythene sheet. With this you now have your polythene sheet fully covered  on one side. No problem if your strips are of different length because you are going to trim the imperfect edges once the sheet is completely done. Repeat the above procedure to cover the sheet on the other side also and trim all the sides to make it perfect.

  • Wrap this duct tape sheet around the water bottle and seal it using one more duct tape strip over the joining of both sides of the sheet. My sheet has became slightly small after trimming so I overlapped an extra duct tape strip to one side of the sheet  and wrapped the sheet around the bottle and by using this overlapped strip I sealed the sheet completely(trim or fold it inside, if there is any extra tape at ends).

  • Slightly push the bottle upwards, now we get 2 inch space at the bottom ( as in first step, we have taken extra sheet than required). Then, using fingers slightly press the two opposite sides of the sheet  to inwards and seal it with same color duct tape strip. Repeat the same for remaining two side and seal them. Now, our bottle holder is ready, but still need to attach straps to it.

  • To make a strap, take a long strip of duct tape and fold it in to half. I want my strap to be long enough to wear across the shoulder so, I have taken one more long strip and overlapped it on the first strip and folded the entire strip in to half then gently press and smooth the tape with your fingers to get rid of  forming air bubbles . Now, take two small strips of tape and  place them over the two ends of the strap and attach this entire strap  inside the bottle holder.Trim the edges to make it perfect.

  • Now, the water bottle holder is ready to hold the water bottle and come along with you.

Thanks for reading. I hope you like it.
